What Is The Pollinator Paradise

We call our pollinator field the Pollinator Paradise. It’s 60 acres of milkweed, wildflowers, prairie grasses, and protective forest. It’s a mating area for the royalty of butterfly the Monarch as well as countless species of bumble bee, beetles, small flies, and of course other butterfly that love the nectar of the dozens of species of wildflowers. This includes acres of the one plant Monarch butterfly cannot survive without; Milkweed. If you read our story you know the conundrum in to which we ran. Instead of tilling up the Monarch butterfly habitat that is so abundant in the Pollinator Paradise we decided to invite you to be a part of our story. To become a part of our pack.

How Can I Help

Become a part of the Pollinator Pack. We’ve divided the Pollinator Paradise in to Butterfly Blocks. Each block has a unique set of natural characteristics. Porcupine point for example is a tree outcropping next to a milkweed patch. Did you know porcupine love a milkweed snack in the summer? Neither did we, until we saw the many porcupine coming from the woods and eating the milkweed. As a member of the Pollinator Pack you along with other members can adopt one or all of the sections.

You’ll receive exclusive entry in to our Facebook group along with a subscription to our newsletter. In both we keep you updated on the critter happenings in your Butterfly Block. This includes the number of caterpillars you helped to hatch and how many of those made it through chrysalis stage to a Monarch. We’ll send you personal videos, pictures, and updates on what’s happening in the section. You’ll receive video of the firefly filled field in June or the occasional cougar that travels through.

Our goal is to bring you along on the adventure of watching these amazing creatures and their friends as they stop in our little oasis to feed on the dozens of species of wild flowers, lay their eggs, transfer from caterpillars to butterfly, and set off on their two thousand mile trip to Mexico.

As a member of the Pollinator Pack you also have the opportunity to live with the Pollinators in the Paradise and see for your self the amazing world of the Monarch Butterfly.

What Do I Get

Do you like to eat? It’s estimated that one in three foods we eat daily are pollinating by a wild pollinator such as a bumble bee, butterfly, or hummingbird. In addition to the warm fuzzy feeling you’ll get and the food you eat which is pollinated by the critters in the Pollinator Paradise we’ll also send you some cool swag. You can even spend a night or two in the Butterfly Bungalow.

Based on the block which you choose to adopt we have some fancy swag and other gifts as a thank you for caring enough to be a part of the Pollinator Pack.

The adoptions are yearly and will auto renew on the first of January.

As Us A Question

Why would I adopt a Butterfly Block

The Monarch butterfly and pollinators like the bumble bee are declining at a rate unseen in history. Your adoption of a block ensures the Pollinator Paradise will always be here for the these critters. We’ve kept the wildflowers wild so you don’t have to. Although, we do encourage you to take some of our milkweed seeds and start a garden in your yard too. They also make a great gift.

How does adopting a Butterfly Block help the monarch

One of the threats to pollinators in the US is habitat decline. Farming has changed in a way that isn’t conducive to Milkweed and other wildflower propagation. We have chosen to keep The Ranch wild instead of turning it back in to a farm. Check out the Pollinator Paradise page to see why we’ve invited you to be a part of our adventure and what it means to be a member of the Pollinator Pack.

Can I visit my block

Yes, of course. Make sure to watch for community events like the caterpillar count. If you adopt Fern Gully, Bungalow Hill or the entire Paradise you can stay in the Butterfly Bungalow.

Where can I learn more about the Monarch

You can click on the Monarch story page to learn more about the fascinating yearly pilgrimage of the Monarch butterfly.

Besides the monarch butterfly what other critters live in the pollinator paradise?

It’s hard to name the all but our favorites are of course the numerous species of butterfly, bumble bee, hummingbirds, all kinds of bats, white tail deer, porcupine, bear, and coyote. Be sure and stay tuned to the newsletter for updates as we and other pack members get pictures.

Are there any other threatened or endangered species in The Pollinator Paradise?

We think we may have the endangered rusty patched bumble bee flying around but we’re not sure. Your adoption of a block will help entomologists defer the cost of taking an inventory of plants and animals to see what species you’re helping to preserve.
